Forget the Ex

Well I am here to tell you that the X Man is hot. Not to mention smart & interesting, so I would say that it was an excellent re-entry into dating. I found that I have little patience with the painful getting to know you questions like "So what is your favorite..." but I suppose they are a necessary evil when you're sitting there trying to think of something to talk about next. The down side to this guy is that he smokes (which surprisingly doesn't bother my sister, previously a staunch "smoking is vile" proponent...I must grill her on this.) but before the cigarette there was kissing & it was amazing, so I think I have thrown this one rule of mine (no smokers) out the window for now. So we're standing outside of this bar making a spectacle of ourselves with the 1st (rather lengthy) kiss, enough of a spectacle that our server had our tab ready when we came back in, saying "I thought you were probably ready to go" even though most of our drinks were left, and we're mid kiss & (get this) he growls. I kid you not, a low back-of-the-throat growl. I almost laughed out loud, but then there was more kissing so I got distracted.

First Date

I am sure that in a few hours I will be much more enthusuastic about my Return To Dating, but right now, 1/2 hour before my first date IN 2 YEARS, I am hating my ex-husband for ever leaving me. Seriously. That ended 11 years ago & I would never consider reuniting, but THAT sounds a hell of a lot simpler that suddenly taking a serious & doubtful look at EVERY PHISICAL THING about myself, not to mention thinking I was thinking I looked pretty hot until I get down to the shoes. When was the last time my shoes mattered?? And if it's winter, do you wear shoes or boots on a first date? Who knows these things? I need a dateing fairy.

Such self doubt. I should be jumping for joy that a guy 15 years younger that me thinks I am beautiful. Flattering, yes. Though within the context of that being something he shared at about 2 AM at a bar, time will tell. I am off for drinks with the X Man.
